Superior Group Educators Participate in U.S. State Department–Funded EPSEA Program at Oakland University

A cohort of twenty educators from The Superior Group have set out on a unique learning experience as part of the Exchange for Pakistani Secondary Educators & Administrators (EPSEA) program. Funded by the U.S. Department of State and hosted at Oakland University, this initiative brings together passionate educators from Pakistan to explore inclusive education through a global lens.

The focus of this program—Equity, Access, and Learning Disability in Secondary Schools in Pakistan—is deeply rooted in the idea that every student deserves support that matches their needs. The EPSEA journey is helping educators develop a deeper understanding of how to recognize, manage, and better support students with learning challenges.

During their five-week stay, the participants of this exchange program will engage in focused academic sessions which will be led by the faculty members from Oakland University’s School of Education and Human Services, alongside the School of Health Sciences. These sessions are complemented with conversations across various departments, offering a broader view of how institutions can build and sustain inclusive systems.

A key part of their learning involves observing inclusive classrooms in action—particularly at Eton Academy, a well-regarded school in Metro Detroit known for its tailored approach to students with learning differences. The experience of this exchange program extends far beyond lectures and observations. The educators will also immerse themselves in cultural exchanges, engaging with Detroit’s rich artistic and community spaces through programs organized by Global Ties Detroit. Later, they’ll travel to Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., to explore how history, governance, and civic values shape educational thinking in the U.S.

As this exchange unfolds, Superior educators are not only discovering new approaches but also reflecting on how these experiences can shape their own practices back home. It’s a learning journey grounded in shared challenges, fresh ideas, and a collective hope to make education more inclusive for every learner in Pakistan.
