Rectors’ Conference 2024
At the 5th Rectors’ Conference 2024, Dr. Sumaira Rehman, Rector of Superior University, delivered an inspiring keynote on “Character Mastery: A Key to Achieving and Sustaining Success.” She emphasized that true excellence in education extends beyond knowledge and innovation—it must be rooted in character. Showcasing Superior University’s Character Mastery Framework, Dr. Rehman highlighted how eight core virtues are systematically integrated into academics, governance, and student life. Supported by evidence-based research, she urged academic leaders to transition from reactive discipline to proactive virtue-building, advocating for a national roadmap for character-based higher education. Her powerful message resonated deeply: Character is the foundation of personal, professional, spiritual, and societal success.
Following her keynote, a panel discussion titled “Mapping the Plan for Promoting Character Education” featured leading academics including Dr. Adnan Noor Mian (VC, ITU), Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah (VC, Punjab University), Prof. Dr. Aftab Maroof (Rector, FAST-NU), and Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (VC, Fatima Jinnah Women University). The discussion explored strategies for embedding moral and ethical development in higher education, highlighting faculty’s role in modeling character and aligning institutional policies with values-based education. Insights from these deliberations were compiled into a policy recommendation document for the Government of Pakistan and HEC, offering actionable strategies to integrate character development into university systems. Moving forward, APSUP aims to sustain this dialogue through collaborative follow-ups, ensuring that Pakistan’s higher education system nurtures ethically grounded, socially responsible, and value-driven graduates who contribute to a prosperous and just society.
