Azra Naheed Medical College (ANMC), Superior University marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by taking a significant step toward more inclusive medical education. During a Curriculum Review Meeting held on 3 December 2025, the academic committee endorsed key updates and prioritized the integration of disability-inclusive competencies into the undergraduate MBBS program.
The pivotal proposal, presented by Prof. Dr. Syed Imran Ali Shah, emphasized the critical need to equip future physicians with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide equitable and compassionate care to patients with disabilities. The committee unanimously supported this initiative, committing to develop a structured and comprehensive framework for its implementation within the core medical curriculum.
This decision underscores ANMC’s proactive dedication to aligning medical training with global health equity principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). By formally integrating disability health into medical education, ANMC reinforces Superior University’s mission to produce socially responsible healthcare leaders who are prepared to serve diverse populations with expertise and empathy.
