
Azra Naheed Medical College, through its Department of Surgical Oncology in collaboration with the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation, successfully organised the 1st Colorectal Cancer Symposium during Research Week 2026 under the theme, โUniting Disciplines Against Colorectal Cancer.โ
The CME-accredited symposium brought together distinguished delegates from leading medical institutions across Lahore, including faculty members, consultants, postgraduate residents, house officers, and medical students. The event served as a dynamic platform for academic engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and knowledge exchange focused on advancing colorectal cancer care in Pakistan.
The symposium featured insightful academic sessions, collaborative discussions, and an inter-collegiate quiz competition among medical colleges, encouraging professional learning and strengthening the capabilities of future healthcare leaders.
A major highlight of the event was an expert panel discussion with renowned clinicians and specialists who explored the evolving landscape of colorectal cancer management. Discussions focused on innovative approaches such as AI integration, robotic surgery, multidisciplinary collaboration, standardized training, and the development of dedicated colorectal care units to improve patient outcomes.
