The Research Cell of Azra Naheed Dental College (ANDC), in collaboration with Azra Naheed Medical College (ANMC), successfully organized a comprehensive hands-on workshop on “Animal Handling and Anesthesia for Biomedical / Oral Research.”
The workshop brought together students, researchers, and faculty members to strengthen their understanding of ethical and scientifically responsible practices in laboratory animal research. Designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure, the session focused on key aspects of animal handling and research methodologies essential for biomedical and oral health studies.
Participants had the opportunity to learn from distinguished facilitators, including Prof. Dr. Naseem Saud, Dr. Munawar Hussain, Prof. Dr. Hira Asghar, Dr. Naila Umer, and Dr. Hammad Hassan, who shared their valuable expertise and practical insights throughout the training.
The workshop covered a range of important topics, including animal welfare guidelines, species selection for research, anesthesia administration and dose calculation, euthanasia procedures, blood sampling techniques, and tissue collection methods. Through hands-on demonstrations and expert guidance, participants gained practical skills while reinforcing the importance of maintaining the highest ethical and safety standards in research.
This initiative reflects the commitment of ANDC and ANMC to promoting research excellence, scientific integrity, and responsible laboratory practices. By equipping researchers with essential knowledge and practical competencies, the workshop contributed to the development of high-quality research that advances healthcare and scientific discovery.
