Azra Naheed Dental College, in collaboration with the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialisation, brought a timely conversation to the forefront during Research Week 2026 with a panel on:
“The Double-Edged Sword of Artificial Intelligence: Weighing the Benefits Against the Risks.”
This was not just a discussion about technology.
It was a discussion about responsibility.
A distinguished panel, including Prof. Dr Muhammad Hassan, Prof. Dr Saira Khalid, Prof. Dr Usman Sana, Prof. Dr Hira Asghar, Prof. Dr Sadaf Waris, Dr Naila Umer, and Dr Hammad Hassan, moderated by Dr Ahmed Abdullah, explored how AI is reshaping healthcare and dental education.
The conversation moved beyond surface-level excitement.
It questioned where AI adds value.
Where it creates risk.
And where human judgment must remain non-negotiable.
From diagnostics to decision-making, the panel highlighted how artificial intelligence can enhance precision and efficiency, but also warned of ethical concerns, over-reliance, and the gaps it can create if used without critical thinking.
The session ended with an engaging dialogue, where questions were not just answered, but challenged.
Because the future of AI in healthcare is not just about what it can do.
It is about how wisely we choose to use it.
