Superior University’s Research Week continued to inspire on Day 8 as the Department of Textile Design at the School of Art & Design organized an engaging panel discussion on Sustainable Textiles. The event brought together some of the most respected voices in the textile industry to discuss how sustainable practices are transforming the future of textiles.
The expert-led panel featured distinguished professionals, including Dr. Nasrullah Akhtar, Director of Knitting and Dyeing at Loftex; Dr. Shah Rukh Shahbaz, Manager of Technical Marketing at Textiles Pvt. Ltd.; Dr. Nabeel Amin, Head of Compliance at the Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan Secretariat, Islamabad; and Prof. M. Tausif, Professor of Sustainable Textile Manufacturing at the University of Leeds, UK. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Umer Hameed, Assistant Professor at Superior University and a specialist in textile sustainability.
The panelists shared valuable insights on a variety of pressing topics such as eco-friendly innovations, challenges in sustainable fashion, and the role of global compliance and standards. They emphasized the adoption of new materials and processes within the textile industry to reduce environmental impact and address issues like waste reduction, resource management, and ethical production.
