
Former HEC athlete Faiqa Riaz has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing a Wild Card Entry to the Paris Olympics. She is one of the seven athletes representing Pakistan in the prestigious event. Her journey to the Olympics is a testament to her dedication and talent, honed through years of active participation in athletics.
During her academic journey, Faiqa Riaz actively competed in the 100m, 200m, and long jump events. She completed her intermediate studies at Lahore College for Women University and earned her BS degree from Superior University, Lahore. Her athletic prowess was evident early on, with significant achievements in various championships.
In the 2nd Junior Athletics Championship, Faiqa won a gold medal in long jump and a bronze medal in the 100m for HEC. Her talent shone internationally as well, when she represented Pakistan in the Junior South Asian Athletics Championship in 2018, held in Sri Lanka.
Faiqa’s dominance continued in the Junior Athletics Championship, where she secured five gold medals in 100m, 200m, long jump, 100m relay, and 400m relay for HEC in 2018. She also represented HEC in the Senior Athletics Championship, clinching four bronze medals in 100m, 200m, long jump, and 100m relay.
Her impressive performance at the 33rd National Games, where she won a silver medal in long jump and bronze medals in the 100m relay and 400m relay, further solidified her status as a top athlete. Most recently, Faiqa claimed the title of Pakistan’s fastest woman by winning the 100m race at the National Championship.
Currently employed by WAPDA, Faiqa Riaz continues to inspire with her achievements. The HEC and Pakistan University Sports Board fraternity wish her the best of luck as she aims to shine on the global stage at the Paris Olympics.
