The 42nd Meeting of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) at Superior University took place on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in the university’s Board Room. The session was presided over by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Sumaira Rehman, and attended by Deans, Department Heads, and senior representatives from support departments.
The key agenda items covered during the meeting began with a review of action points from the previous BASR session. The significant milestones included the approval of supervisor recommendations and in-depth reviews of PhD synopses and supervisor allocations across various faculties. The Faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technology presented proposed changes to PhD synopses and supervisors, all of which received careful consideration from the board. The MS cases from multiple faculties were also approved, marking another step forward in the university’s commitment to rigorous research standards.
Another critical agenda item was the review and approval of examiner appointments for multiple faculties, ensuring that the university’s academic programs meet the highest standards. The Deans’ Committee’s recommendations on governance of MS and PhD programs were also examined, reflecting Superior University’s dedication to transparent and effective academic oversight.
In a move aimed at further supporting postgraduate scholars, the board approved new SOPs, a comprehensive PG Students’ Handbook, revised PhD admission criteria, and updates to the honorarium for thesis supervision and external evaluation.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmed commitment from all attendees to uphold Superior University’s values of research excellence and academic integrity.
