
The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, under the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Superior University, successfully conducted a one-day training workshop on “Physiotherapy Perspectives in Organ Transplantation: Pre- and Post-Operative Rehabilitation in Liver Transplant Patients” at the Main Campus, Raiwind Road, Lahore.
The interactive session was led by Dr. Farah Shaheen, PT, an internationally qualified physiotherapist, registered in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, with extensive advanced training from Johns Hopkins University, USA. Her global expertise brought a unique perspective to the workshop, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world clinical applications.
The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the critical role physiotherapy plays in the pre- and post-operative care of liver transplant patients. Dr. Shaheen shared evidence-based rehabilitation protocols, advanced assessment techniques, and effective therapeutic strategies designed to optimize patient recovery, restore function, and improve overall quality of life following transplantation.
Through detailed case discussions and practical demonstrations, attendees explored the multidisciplinary approach required in organ transplantation and learned how physiotherapists can collaborate with surgeons, physicians, and rehabilitation specialists to ensure comprehensive patient care.
